Alienware: Aurora ALX

The Alienware Aurora ALX designed with Dual Zone liquid cooling system dual independent self-contained liquid cooling systems, one that targets the CPU and a second that targets its dual graphics. The result is optimized heat load distribution between a system’s CPU and dual graphics, leading to a more efficient, effective, and higher performing system- with immense Overclocking potentials.

Of course, Windows® Vista is already the default operating system. Since Vista is the first Windows operating system that can scale to a computer’s hardware capabilities, how much you get out of Vista is directly linked to how much technological force is packed into your PC. No problem. The latest graphics, processors, hard drives and memory are a given on any new Alienware system.

Packed with AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 dual core processor that will supercharges your alienware system with the new AM2 DDR2 memory technology. This double barreled combo comes equipped to the gills with these other AMD features:

  • Integrated memory controller.
  • HyperTransport™ technology.
  • Enhanced Virus Protection.
  • Cool’n’Quiet™ technology.
Talking about graphics? Oh noh! Aurora ALX got the new NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8800 GTX with SLi dual GPU technology. The NVIDIA 8800 GTX carries 768 MB of GDDR3 memory, for a total of 1.5 GB of dedicated GPU memory, and is the world’s first Direct X 10-compliant video card as well as HDCP ready.

And oh, look at this 4 terabytes of storage you’ll never have to worry about storage space. Massive 4 Terabytes of data let you store more music, games, pictures, and movies.
  • Music: 1,000,000 songs*
  • Movies: 1,000 movies*
  • Games: 665 games*
Average file size: 4MB per Song, 4GB per Movie, 6GB per Game.

And at last, this Blu-ray Disc format offers the highest capacity of any consumer media format to date, also greatly surpassing the capacity of other media formats. Blu-ray Disc gives you the maximum storage capability of 50GB on one dual layer disc, almost 10x the standard storage capabilities of a DVD. Blu-ray Disc's huge capacity allows not only for the highest quality High Definition video to be displayed, but allows you back up your large media libraries on one disc.

O2 Xda comet

The 02 Germany released this new latest Windows Mobile device, the soon to be released O2 Xda comet. While O2 Germany decided not to launch the HTC TyTN II (HTC Kaiser), it decided to release another follower of last year's released Xda trion (aka HTC Hermes) and unlike the HTC Hermes and and HTC Kaiser, the O2 Xda comet is a quite "traditional" Pocket PC Phone Edition, without sporting a thumb-keyboard but touch-screen focused only. As you might have read already, the O2 Xda comet isn't a brand new device anymore, since sprig it's available in Asia as the O2 Xda Atom Life already and O2 Germany decided to pick-up O2 Asia's top product to sell it in Germany now as well.

By sporting an ultra fast Marvell XScale PXA 270 CPU which is clocked at 624 MHz, this Windows Mobile 6 Professional devices also features triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900 MHz and dualband UMTS/HSDPA at 1900/2100 MHz which supports HSDPA phase 2 with download speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps (even if O2 Germany is currently supporting 1.8 Mbps only). Furthermore, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 1.2 and even IrDA are inbuilt which allows to connect the device under virtually all circumstances.

Massive storage capacity of 1 GB of ROM and 64 MB of RAM which provides a good amount of space for storing MP3 files, movies and even whole country maps for navigation systems (and if this isn't enough, the memory can be extended with miniSD cards). And the memory can also be used to record radio shows because the device also includes an FM RDS radio.

The 2.7 " touch-screen display 65k and the main camera, which includes a photo light as well, supports 2 megapixel and also features a macro mode. A second camera on the front can be used for UMTS video telephony as well as self-portrait photos and videos (even if it is VGA only).
So except the somewhat outdated Bluetooth 1.2 module, the device is pretty well equipped, even if it misses GPS but even with all the features above, the O2 Xda comet measures 106 x 58 x 19 mm only at a weight of 148 g.

Xbox 360 Halo Legendary Edition

This Limited Edition Xbox is basically your Premium Xbox with an HDMI port, but the attention to detail on the case is impressive. Text and graphics running over the side of the green, camo splattered Xbox, and an HDD and drive tray painted in the same reflective gold as the Master Chief's helmet make it seem as if it were a weapon pulled straight out of the game.

HTC Advantage X7501

The HTC Advantage X7501 is one of the newest gadgets provided by the HTC (http://www.htc.com/) . It provide many features like high performance , it runs on an Intel 624MHz processor that's still the king of speed on PDAs and phones, 128 megs of RAM and 256 megs of flash ROM. There's an 8 gig microdrive inside, a miniSD card slot that's SDHC compatible, a 5" transflective VGA display, 3 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus lens, full GPS, WiFi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0.

The Advantage comes with a detachable QWERTY keyboard. a quad band 850/900/1800/1900MHz GSM world phone that works anywhere in the world GSM service is available. It has EDGE for data as well as 3G, and the faster HSDPA flavor at that. It's sold unlocked, which means you can use it with any carrier's SIM. HTC's network settings wizard detected our two SIM cards (T-Mobile and AT&T) and offered to create the correct settings for each. No need to find APN, MMS server and other settings and enter them yourself-- nice. You will have to remember to turn off HSPDA if your carrier doesn't offer it or if you're not in an HSDPA coverage area. This is a somewhat odd device to use for voice calls given the distinctly non-phone ergonomics. That said, voice quality is excellent and signal strength on the 850 and 1900MHz bands is quite good. If you make or receive a call with no wired or Bluetooth headset connected, the Advantage uses speakerphone mode, which is both louder and clearer than most phones. Note that there is no vibrate mode on the Advantage, though you do have the usual selection of ringtones and can use your own MP3s as ringtones.Summary:
Attractive and innovative design, very good VGA display, fast processor, lots of RAM, flash ROM and microdrive space. Windows Mobile 6 is powerful and has enough to offer to make this a reasonable notebook substitute if you don't need specific Windows-only applications on the go. WiFi, bluetooth and especially HSPDA keep you connected just about anywhere in the world. Unlocked for use with any GSM carrier's SIM. Fast by Windows Mobile standards. We love that HTC included the excellent Opera web browser. The keyboard is large enough for touch-typing (if you're coordinated and slim-fingered at least) but is also two-thumb friendly. GPS is a big plus, and it's fast and accurate. Good battery life.

SLM2008 - 8-port Gigabit Smart Switch

Cost-effective Gigabit switching with entry-level management for small business
  • 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports ideal for small workgroups moving large files
  • Can obtain power from a standard 802.3af PoE switch or from an external AC power outlet
  • Entry-level management at a cost-effective price point
  • Easy to use Web browser interface make installation quick and easy

New Linksys Business Series Smart Gigabit Ethernet Switches deliver cost-effective switching solutions that are ideal for small businesses or workgroups within larger organizations. These high-speed switches offer entry-level management without the cost and complexity of a full Layer 2 managed switch.

The SLM2008 switch is ideal for conference rooms, labs, shipping/receiving departments or in marketing, design or audio/visual workgroups. The eight 10/100/1000 Mbps (Gigabit Ethernet) ports enable companies to link to other Gigabit devices on the network (servers, workstations and network storage) to quickly move bandwidth-intensive files while still supporting 10/100 Mbps clients.

The SLM2008 supports the IEEE802.3af standard for Power over Ethernet (PoE) for obtaining its power over a designated PD port or from an external AC power adapter. This gives companies the option to install the switch in places where a power outlet may not be present, such as in ceilings and in walls.

The SLM2008 is able to secure the network through IEEE 802.1Q VLANs and IEEE 802.1X port authentication. For environments where IP multicast applications are used, the switch is capable of limiting the traffic to only the ports that have requested that traffic with support of IGMP Snooping. Additional QoS capabilities like IEEE 802.1p, DSCP, and 4 hardware queues make it possible to maintain good quality for real-time applications like voice and video.

The SLM2008 offers an easy-to-use browser interface for the management and configuration of the features, making it ideal for small businesses without an IT staff or that have minimal technical expertise.

iPhone production on twice?

I've read on a recent news on TimesOnline that Apple will double their time producing their hot gadget of today, the iPhone. According to the news, this giant technology company will target the nearly 5 million amounts of iPhones this year.

Well for me this will simply mean a price cut, and its a good thing for those gadget guys out there who would come and get this really nice mini-supercomputer. The news stated that earlier this month, Apple cut the price of the iPhone by 33 percent only 68 days after its launch in the US. The $200 cut, to $399 (£197), was unprecedented for an Apple product in its speed. Not bad! think of the next days, i think it could step down on a 50 percent price cut.
